Online Poker Bluffing

When it comes to poker, bluffing is a skill that every player needs to master. Being able to pick up on traits of certain players and knowing when they are weak will certainly make bluffing that little bit easier. The more a player bluffs, the more likely they are to be caught out, so be careful.

So, what is bluffing?

Most players would determine bluffing as the act of betting another player off a pot, when they themselves, have a particularly weak hand. It keeps the game exciting and without it, poker would actually be fairly boring. Without bluffing the best hand would always win the bet, so the player would be made redundant. Essentially, the game would turn into one of luck, just like many of the other casino games such as roulette and blackjack.

Bluffing is what makes a player a winning player or a losing player. Some players will win the majority of the time and others will lose the majority of the time and it is bluffing that helps to make this happen. It helps to distinguish between the winners and the losers in poker in the long term.

The Guessing Game

There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to how to bluff or how much to bluff. That being said, those that tend to bluff a lot less are much more likely to get away with it in the long run. The hands that have been shown prior (the winners) will be the main thing that puts other players off from re-raising their good hand, or counter bluffing the original player that bluffed. Keeping a mixed game and keeping players guessing is what poker is all about.

That being said, locking onto a bluffer can sometimes be easy. A lot of players will have some tell tale signs of when they are bluffing. For instance, a player might react really quickly with an over bet when they are bluffing. Picking up on these signs can help people overcome their opponent’s quickly and easily.
